It seems that Michael Jackson is going the route that other music icons have traveled down before him. On December 14th, the King of Pop will be releasing a new posthumous album called Michael. Here is a quote from the press release:
“The creative process never stopped for the King of Pop who was always planning for his next album; unbeknownst to many fans around the world Michael Jackson was writing and recording songs continuously everywhere from a friend’s home in New Jersey to studios in Las Vegas and Los Angeles with a small group of handpicked collaborators. Now, through the unique stories that will be told about the songs that comprise MICHAEL, fans will get mind-blowing insight into how this artist worked and a chance to hear the songs he most recently created along with tracks that Michael had a desire to bring to fruition.”
How do you feel about Michael Jackson releasing an album more than a year after his untimely death? When I heard about the release of this new track called “Breaking News” I thought to myself, wow, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Kurt Cobain, George Harrison, and Aaliyah have all gone down this road so why does it feel strange that Michael Jackson’s camp does the same thing? It’s sure to make Epic Records a lot of money, keep his memory alive, and be remixed by the best producers from around the world, but will it be up to par with the recordings that made this legendary performer famous?
