I’m Comin For That #1 Spot
Is Luda a top five emcee? If you disagree, he wants to change your opinion with “Theater Of The Mind”. He’s a 10 year veteran who’s released platinum albums, “Back For The First Time”, “Word Of Mouf”, “Chicken & Beer” and “Red Light District”. But the term “lyricist” isn’t attached to his name. When people mention top five emcees Dead Or Alive, it’s the usual: 1.) Tupac 2.) Biggie 3.) Jay-Z, 4.) Nas then the lists gets blurry at the number 5 spot. (pull)On “Theater Of The Mind”, Chris Bridges motto is to lacerate tracks with punchlines and verbal carnage.(/pull) “Undisputed” finds boxer Floyd Mayweather, egging the rapper “to tell the other emcees to put their motherf*cker mics down”. He complies with the line, “back to put rappers on one knee like they bout to run the 100 meter dash”. The album’s production is solid. “Last of A Dying Breed” by Wyldfyer featuring Lil Wayne is one of the many highlights with its horrific moviesque beat. Luda and Weezy flow seamlessly with their lyrically packed rhymes over this track. Rakim’s, “Move The Crowd” sample is a good addition to the song’s concept because both emcees want to entertain fan’s with their lyrical acumen instead of a catchy chorus and hook. Other notable tracks are “MVP”, “Contagious” and “Do The Right Thang”. If Luda keeps adding albums of this caliber to his catalogue he might just get that #1 spot.
