Love is hard to find in the concrete jungle, but if you look the right places it might just creep up and bite you in the ass. HAPPYTHANKYOUMROEPLEASE is Josh Radnor’s (How I Met Your Mother), feature writing and directorial debut about a struggling writer named Sam (played by Josh Radnor) who takes in a boy he finds on the subway. His friends Mary and Charlie (Tribeca Best Actress Award winner Zoe Kazan and Pablo Schreiber) are trying to decide whether they should stay in New York City or move out to Los Angeles, and his best friend Annie (Malin Akerman) has a problem finding the right man until she meets a co-worker named Sam number 2 (Arrested Development’s Tony Hale) who shows her that you can’t always judge a book by its cover. This movie is filled with funny quips, comical situations, and the underlying message that love is right around the corner waiting for you to grab it. Instead of having a one night stand with a girl he meets in a bar named Mississippi (played by Kate Mara), Sam number 1 decides to have a three night stand with her where he ends up giving her the keys to his apartment, something I wouldn’t recommend doing in NYC. Overall, by the end of the movie I felt like New York wasn’t such a bad place to find love. The question now is what to do with it when it’s staring back you. This movie is currently playing at the Angelika Film Center on the corner of Houston Street and Mercer Street.
